Mann Turns Fortunes Around; Next Stop Australian Sprintcar Nationals

There wouldn’t be race team in existence that has never experienced a tough run at some point and it’s a sign of a team’s strength as to how they persevere when down on their luck and manage to turn their fortunes around. Bryan Mann and the Performance Wholesale Motorsport team are no exception and after some disappointing results at the Kings Challenge and the Grand Annual Classic, they got themselves back on track on Australia Day at Premier Speedway in Warrnambool.

The team’s run of outs can be traced back to Bryan’s crash at Parramatta City Raceway during the Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars (PWWSS) events at the venue on January 15/16. The damage to the once pristine #16 Capalaba Wreckers/Qld Speedway Spares J&J was substantial and despite the team’s best efforts at repairing the chassis, they struggled to find consistency with the car at both the Kings Challenge and the Classic and their disappointing results at those events reflected that.

The team made the decision after night one of the Classic to put another car together prior to the Australia Day World Series race at Warrnambool, a decision that paid dividends immediately. After qualifying forty-seventh quick with an 11.548s lap at the Classic, Bryan timed in seventh quick with an 11.156s lap on Tuesday night and through his Heat races qualified directly into the A-Main. Although he finished fifteenth in the Feature on Tuesday night, his points haul was enough to also move him back up one spot to eighth position in the Series standings with two Rounds remaining.

Before Bryan and the team hit Kalgoorlie and the Perth Motorplex next week for the final two Rounds of the Series, they will swing through Speedway City in Adelaide this Saturday night for the running of the Australian Sprintcar Nationals. Bryan’s last event in Adelaide, Round 4 of PWWSS on Boxing Day, netted him a top ten finish in the A-Main, a result the team will be eager to at least match this weekend.
