Although it wasn’t the strongest of finishes to his 09/10 season World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship campaign; James McFadden was pleased with his sixth place finish in the overall point standings.
The final two rounds of the WSS Championship that were held at the Kalgoorlie International Speedway and the Perth Motorplex over in Western Australia resulted in McFadden finishing seventh and 13th respectively in the feature races.
“Our finish to World Series wasn’t the best, as we didn’t qualify the best and although we moved forward in each of our feature races it’s quite tough coming from the back no matter who you are,” explained McFadden. “It was great to run at Kalgoorlie as that is the home town of my car owner Scott Milling and anytime that you get to race at the Perth Motorplex is an awesome experience but I’ve still got to get my head around running at the place.”
Looking back over his WSS campaign, McFadden said that the new team learned a lot and will be better off for the experience.
“We ended up sixth in the point standings at the end of the rounds and when you look over the drivers that finished ahead of me there is no shame is where I ended up,” said the WA 25 Totally Workwear backed Cool driver. “Over the course of the series we had some really good rounds and some not so good rounds, but all in all we worked strongly as a team and learned so much out on the road that will help us into the future.”
Leading up to his trip over to Western Australia McFadden picked up yet another podium finish for his 09/10 season tally with a third place finish during Australian Nationals at Speedway City (Adelaide, SA).
This Saturday night (February 13) McFadden will compete at Collie Speedway (Collie, WA) for the latest round of the Southern Thunder Series.
McFadden would like to thank his car owner Scott Milling, father and crew chief Dave McFadden, and sponsors Totally Workwear and KRE Race Engines for their all continued 09/10 season support.
