Lines Continues Solid Perth Motorplex Speed

By Daniel Powell

Although he was disappointed to have missed out on a spot on the podium, Steve Lines was pleased with the speed that he showed throughout the annual King of Wings event last weekend at the Perth Motorplex in WA.

The final night of the King of Wings resulted in Lines finished just off the podium in the feature race in fourth place and despite showing consistent speed throughout the weekend it left him slightly disappointed.

“We got away to a good start in the feature race and that really set us up for a strong result in the end,” said Lines, who started the feature race out of position eight in the field. “I battled with Kerry [Madsen] there for a few laps before he moved by and then towards the end of the feature race we were reeling in Jason [Johnson] but simply ran out of laps and finished up in fourth.”

Lines made a solid start to his King of Wings weekend by topping the time sheets in qualifying on the opening night and then finished sixth in his heat race. Due to missing out on a top four transfer from his heat race in either of the respective of A and B Dashes, Lines took part in the Mid-pack dash which he won and started the preliminary feature race from position 13. In the preliminary feature race Lines worked his way forward to finish in a credible sixth place. The second night of the King of Wings saw Lines finish second in his heat race and that earned him enough points to qualify for the B Dash. In the B Dash Lines started from position three and finished in fourth place which started him out of position eight in the feature race.

“Overall it was a great weekend and our rebuilt car and fresh engine work strongly and I’m confident that better results are still ahead for us in the remainder of the season,” Lines mentioned in a confident manner.

This weekend (February 27 and 28) Lines heads to Bunbury City Speedway to battle it out in the annual Krikke Boys Shootout.
