Building on the success of the 2009 inaugural season, the Upper Midwest Sprint Car Series (UMSS) is pleased to announce their 2010 schedule will consist of 24 race nights at six different race tracks. “We are excited to expand our schedule based on demand and our new relationship with IMCA. Interest in the UMSS continues to grow from drivers, owners, fans, and local area race track promoters,” stated UMSS President Ron Bernhagen.
The UMSS sprint cars will head into new territory in 2010, invading Arlington Raceway, Ogilvie Raceway, and Elko Speedway. The series, in its second year, will make return visits to Kopellah Speedway, Cedar Lake Speedway, and North Central Speedway.
The 2010 season gets underway the last full weekend of April with races on the 23rd at Kopellah Speedway and the 24th at Cedar Lake Speedway. Continuing through a season that offers variety for the fans and racers, the 2010 tour will not end until October 1 with a show at the Ogilvie Raceway. Highlights of the UMSS season include:
* The Billy Anderson and Jerry Richert Memorials at Cedar Lake Speedway.
* The Kouba Memorial along with the Mighty Axe Nationals at North Central Speedway.
* Combined shows with the IMCA at Elko’s Dirt Nationals and Arlington Raceway.
* Ten Friday shows at the ultra-competitive Kopellah Speedway.
* Two shows at the new Ogilvie Raceway.
The UMSS is a value-based sprint car organization bringing open wheel racing back to the Twin Cities area of Minnesota by establishing reasonable rules for the participant, an economical purse structure for the race tracks, and an affordable race ticket and fan-friendly program for the race fan.
