Atlanta, GA – March 13, 2010 – The United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear and the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame have announced the 1st annual USCS Hall of Fame Classic Weekend, The four-night open wheel spectacular will take place at four tracks in three Mid South states over the Independence Day Holiday weekend from Thursday July 1st through Sunday July 4th.
Over the four nights the popular winged sprint car series will keep history in the fore front and travel to a minimum for the fans and race teams. On Thursday, July 1st the Hall of Fame Classic Weekend opens at the historic Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas, with the 1st annual Hooker Hood Hall of Fame Sprint Car Shootout. The race at America’s oldest continuously operating weekly racing facility will honor the legendary Clarence “Hooker” Hood from Memphis, Tennessee. Hooker Hood terrorized Mid South ovals for over four decades while winning over 500 career sprint and Super Modified feature races. The event will feature racing in both USCS Winged and Non-Winged sprint cars. The action-packed event also serves as the kickoff event for the USCS Modified Speedweek 2010 as well.
For round two of the combination of horsepower and history, the high-speed entourage travels just two hours North of Memphis to Malden Speedway in Malden, Missouri on Friday, July 2nd for their portion of the 2nd Annual Freedom 200. On Saturday, July 3rd the mini-series travels across the Mississippi river into Tennessee to the high banks of Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, Tennessee for ” Thunder on the High banks”. The Hall of Fame Classic Weekend concludes on Sunday, July 4th (Independence Day) with the 4th annual USCS “Firecracker 100” at Camden Motor Speedway in Camden, Tennessee.
Nearly $50,000 in total prize money is guaranteed with one sprint car driver able to win $10,000 including bonuses for a Hall of Fame Classic Weekend sweep. Each event will pay $2000 to win with a Minimum of $250 to start the A-Main. The mighty USCS Modifieds join the sprint cars for a USCS Double-Header during each of the Hall of Fame Classic events for the first four rounds of their seven-night USCS Modified Speedweek 2010.
Fans will be treated to an appearance of the current National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum show car at each of the events. They will also have a chance to purchase raffle tickets to win the car itself. Fans will also have a chance to win NSCHOF and United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear souvenirs and memorabilia each night. They will additionally be able to register and become a member of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame if they desire. The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame is dedicated to the preservation of history and artifacts of sprint car racing and is located behind the backstretch of the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa home of the 2010 Goodyear 50th Knoxville Nationals.
