(Mercer, PA)…After three great nights to open up the 59th anniversary season, Mother Nature reared her ugly head on Saturday forcing the first cancellation of 2010 at Mercer Raceway Park. Snow and rain showers, cold and windy weather ended any hopes of a great night of “Saturday Night Live” racing at The Park. Mother Nature has actually been pretty kind in April to Mercer over the past few seasons as this was the first April cancellation since April 12, 2008.

“This certainly isn’t the weather people look forward to enjoying the races,” stated Bill Altman. “We were blessed with sunny and for the most part mild weather for this time of the time of the year. It was only natural that reality would set back it. We didn’t want to subject the fans or the racers to these conditions with the temps struggling to get out of the low 40s and winds up to 30 miles per hour and the chance of precipitation. Hopefully the weather will cooperate next Saturday as we’re expecting additional cars to make their season debuts.”

Mercer Raceway Park will return to action next Saturday night with five divisions of racing excitement featuring the Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars, Approved Toilet Rentals Modifieds, 4 Your Car Connection FASTRAK Late Models, Big Daddy’s Speed Center Stock Cars, and the M&D Paving Mini Stocks.

The Park’s first promotion of the new season will take place with 2 for $20 Adult Admissions presented by The Mahoning Valley Scrappers. It’s also Twin-State and Pittsburgh Circle Club Nights.

Pit gates open at 3:30 p.m. with grandstands at 4:30. Hot laps begin at 6:15 and the first green flag waves at 7.
Adult admission is $12. Mom and dad can bring up to four kids 15 and under for just a buck with the $25 family pass. Students 6-15 are just $5 and kids five and under are always free. Pits passes are $25. Fans can take advantage of the “SPEEDPASS” by upgrading their admission ticket to the pit area at intermission for just $5 or $10 for the entire family.
