Reigning Qld Champion James McFadden will put his Title on the line this week when Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway (BIS) hosts the 2010 East Coast Pipelines Qld Sprintcar Title across two nights of racing action on Friday April 30 and Saturday May 1.
McFadden, who has been one of the true success stories in Australian Speedway over the past twelve months with multiple victories and podium finishes around the country, will headline a list of nominations expected to include over thirty Qld Sprintcar drivers and a host of interstate stars, including former National Champion Robbie Farr from NSW.
Brisbane-based drivers in the next weekend’s field who have previously won the Qld Title include Pete Thorley, Andrew Scheuerle, Darrell Hodges and Todd Wanless, with Scheuerle and Hodges having won the Qld, Club Championship and Series Titles all in the one season.
Victorian drivers David Murcott and Jamie Veal will seek to become just the second Victorian to win a Qld Sprintcar Championship other than Max Dumesny (Rockhampton, 1997) and while Veal has had limited experience at BIS during his short career in Sprintcar racing, Murcott is no stranger to Brisbane fans having competed here regularly over the past five seasons. Murcott already has a BIS victory under his belt this season, having won Round 2 of the Qld Speedway Spares Series at the venue back in September.
Danny Reidy, who originally hails from the Northern Territory, also has legitimate claims to some pre-race favouritism for the Championship next weekend. Reidy is a regular on the Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcar Championship trail each year, travelling the length and breadth of the country to all the major events around Australia. Reidy has won at BIS in the past and cannot be discounted in the chase for the State Title honours.
Friday night’s racing at Archerfield will centre on three Rounds of Qualifying Heat races and a Preliminary Feature with Saturday night’s program featuring the final Round of Heats plus the Dash, C-Main, B-Main and the thirty-five lap Championship Final.
