HARTFORD, Ohio (May 8, 2010) – Track officials fought to prepare the track for racing, but Mother Nature won and 6 PAK Saturday at Sharon Speedway was canceled on May 8.
“We’re setting a precedent – we’re going to do everything we can to get every race in,” Sharon Speedway General Manager Dave Willoughby says. “Unfortunately, it wasn’t in the cards for us tonight.”
410 Sprints, Big Block Modifieds, E-Modifieds, Pro Stocks, Limited Sprints and Hobby Stocks will race again on the next 6 PAK Saturday on May 15. It’s Armed Forces Night and military members and veterans will be admitted free to Sharon Speedway. It’s also Crawford County School night, with students showing their report card at the track admitted free.
On Friday, May 7, the first Friday Night Thunder also came to a conclusion at the onset of inclement weather. Mod Lites, Sportsman, Micro Sprints, 2 bbl E-mods and Hobby Stocks were to have raced, but only the Micro Sprints completed their feature. William Sanger (Conneaut, Ohio) was declared the winner after 14 laps following a delay from a red flag incident.
The remaining four features will be run on May 21 as part of the regularly scheduled program.
Tickets for the Saturday 6 Pack series are $13 for adults ages 14 and older, $5 for teens from ages 9 to 13 and kids 8 and under are free. Tickets and passes are available at the speedway ticket windows, by calling (330) 772-5481 or by visiting sharonspeedway.com.
