(Terre Haute) The wait is almost over.
Terre Haute’s Action Track, the only remaining dirt half-mile track in the state
of Indiana, plays host to the Union Hospital Don Smith Classic presented by
Republic Services this Saturday night. The event features the Midwest Sprint Car Series,
and defending race winner Jon Stanborough.
In addition to a full program of racing featuring the MSCS 410 non-winged sprint cars,
fans will also be treated to an appearance by Megasaurus…as the fire breathing dragon
devours a full-sized car on the front straight following the 30 lap feature event.
The 2009 Union Hospital Don Smith Classic featured an incredible finish, as
Stanborough set-up race leader Damion Gardner coming off of turn four on the final
lap of the event and beat Gardner to the line by less than a car length to take the checkers.
The Action Track ticket office opens this Saturday afternoon at 3pm, with fan gates
set to open at 4pm. The Midwest Sprint Car Series competitors are scheduled to
take the track at 6pm for the first hot lap session of the evening. Adult tickets
start at just $15, with kids 12 and under free for all Action Track events in 2010.
