BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY KICKS OFF BIG RACING WEEKEND

Bloomington Speedway

From Ron Green

BLOOMINGTON, Ind., Monday, May 24, 2010 – Indiana’s biggest weekend of motorsports – Memorial Day Weekend – kicks off with a classic night of Hoosier-style racing at Bloomington Speedway, Friday night, May 28.

MAIL PAK NIGHT at Bloomington Speedway will include hot laps, heat races and a 30-lap feature for the Grimes Pools and Spas Sprint Cars and full programs of racing for the Tire and Wheel Center UMP Indiana Super Stocks and O’Neal Wood Products UMP Modifieds.

Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m., hot laps are at 6:30 with racing beginning at 7:30. General admission is $12 for adults, and kids under 12 are always FREE general admission at Bloomington Speedway with a general admission paying adult.

While the world’s eyes will be watching to see if Helio Castroneves can win his 4th Indianapolis 500 this weekend, Indiana’s racing fans will be watching to see if Bloomington Speedway sprint car regular Danny Holtsclaw can get the monkey off his back. The Bloomington-area driver has been one of the fastest every week, this season but bad luck has kept him out of victory lane.

Though rain has forced the cancellation of three evenings of racing at Bloomington so far in 2010, the new layer of Indiana red clay put down in the off season by promoter Mike Miles has produced great racing action. Each class of car has found at least three racing grooves allowing for thrilling side-by-side action.
