Indiana Midget Week stormed into Bloomington Speedway and delivered an exciting night of racing during Indiana Stoneworks Night Friday, June 18.

The event featured the United States Auto Club Mopar National Midgets and the Grimes Pools & Spas Sprint Cars. Shane Cottle won the 30-lap USAC Mopar National Midget feature race, while Jeff Bland Jr. took the checkered flag in the Grimes Pools & Spas Sprint Car feature event.

Shane Cottle of Kokomo Ind., dominated the USAC Mopar National Midget feature race and picked up the win. He took home the checkered flag after hunting down Tracy Hines of New Castle Ind., and wrestling the lead away from him on the fifth lap. Cottle never looked back and led the field all the way to the finish. He is the third winner during the Indiana Midget Week and will carry momentum with him as the series moves to Lawrenceburg Speedway on Saturday, June 19.

Jeff Bland Jr. of Springville Ind., stole the lead from pole sitter Danny Holtsclaw of Bloomfield Ind., on the third lap and avoided a late race charge from Jon Stanbrough of Brownsburg Ind., to win the Grimes Pools & Spas Sprint Car feature race. Stanbrough worked his way up from the eleventh starting position and made a bold move on the outer edge of the frontstretch to pass Brady Short of Bedford Ind., and Dickie Gaines of Mitchell Ind., to move into the second position and win the Sprint Mart Hard Charger Award for the night. The win bolsters Bland Jr’s points championship position as he will remain in the lead heading into the next event.
