BLOOMINGTON, Ind., Wednesday, July 14, 2010 – Sprint Car racing’s biggest event in Indiana is the annual USAC Indiana Sprint Week, and Bloomington Speedway regular Brady Short is in the hunt for the coveted championship.

The Bedford, Indiana driver is currently second in the USAC Indiana Sprint Week points championship heading into Wednesday night’s race (tonight) at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track.

This is the 23rd year of Indiana Sprint Week, which is a series of seven dirt sprint car races over the course of nine nights across Indiana.

Short finished in second place in the opening race Friday night, July 9, at Lawrenceburg Speedway. He slipped to a 16th place finish Saturday night at I-69 Speedway in Gas City, before rebounding with another second place finish Sunday at Kokomo Speedway.

Friday night’s race at Bloomington Speedway will be race No. 6 of the 2010 Indiana Sprint Week after races tonight at Terre Haute and tomorrow night at Brownstown. The famous high banked, ¼-mile red clay oval of Bloomington Speedway has played host to an Indiana Sprint Week race for 22 consecutive years.

Though Short has not won at Bloomington Speedway yet this year, he is the 2009 sprint car track champion there. He does have five feature wins this year at other Indiana tracks

The biggest stars of non-wing sprint car racing including Levi Jones, Bryan Clauson, Dave Darland, Damion Gardner and Jerry Coons Jr., will mix it up Friday night with Bloomington Speedway regulars Short, Dickie Gaines, John Sciscoe, Danny Holtsclaw and Jon Stanbrough. Indiana Sprint Week also brings in cars and drivers from other states including California’s Bud Kaeding.

Sharing Bloomington Speedway Friday night with the sprint cars will be the Midwest Mini Sprint Association.
