July 26, 2010 – The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders highlight the 1st Annual “Kitchen Cooked” Sprint Car Summer Shootout at the Peoria Speedway in Peoria, Illinois this Sunday night! The point race continues to sizzle as the top three in the standings are separated by just eight markers heading into Peoria! To make it more convenient for Burlington, Iowa and Roseville, Illinois area race fans, a bus trip has been planned by the Sprint Invaders Benevolent Society!
A veteran list of drivers has visited victory lane at the bullring in Peoria in the past in Sprint Invaders competition. The series will be making its first appearance since 2006. Previous winners include two-time series’ champion “Lil’ Dude” Bobby Mincer (2004), Jerrod Hull (2005) and another two-time champion, “Flyin’” Ryan Jamison (2006).
It will be a short drive for Decatur, Illinois’ “Showtime” Kaley Gharst, who took the point lead by virtue of a win on July 15 at the Cedar County Raceway in Tipton, Iowa. Matt Sutton is just three points behind the leader, followed by Jamison, who is just eight points back. Donnie Steward and Ben Wagoner round out the top five in the standings.
$250 will be on the line on Sunday for the highest finishing 305 sprinter. The car does not have to make the feature to garner the bonus!
Support classes include the Illinois Outlaw Lightning Sprints, $1000 to win Modifieds and $300 to win Hornets. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., with racing scheduled for 6 p.m. Admission is $18 for adults and $10 for kids. To order advanced tickets, or to get more information, visit www.SprintCarSummerShootout.com!
Take the Bus!
Let someone else do the driving to Peoria! The cost is $35 per person and includes round trip charter bus ride, grandstand admission, and limited non-alcoholic beverages and snacks. There will also be prizes given away on the bus. You may bring your own alcohol. Pick up will be in West Burlington, Iowa or Roseville, Illinois. You can send your check to SIA, 1111 Summer St., Burlington, IA 52601, or call 319 753-0466 and leave a message so the Invaders can return your call!
