by Robert Cortum – Jerrod Hull Motorsports
Sikeston, Missouri’s Jerrod Hull in the Heartland Trailer Manufacturing #12 Maxim took the lead on the first lap of the 2010 Lake Ozark Speedway 360 Nationals and never looked back in the 30-lap $4,000 to win feature event. Hull also piloted the Byron Sebastian owned #14S 305 to a 2nd place finish to make one memorable night on September 5th, 2010.
“I got locked into the night’s feature by finishing 3rd on Saturday night and just used that great run to my advantage for tonight’s event,” commented an overjoyed Hull. “Starting on the outside was a huge help, but as soon as the rubber began to lay down and the lap traffic began to be a factor I knew (Tim) Crawley was coming for me, I just couldn’t give an inch”
Hull recently took the checkered flag at another Kevin and Tammy Gundaker just a few days earlier at Tri City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Illinois with the ASCS. It has been a very productive 2 weekends of racing for one of the area’s true Outlaws.
“After last Friday’s win we decided to get everything ready for this weekend and hit the Lake for a weekly show. We won that night also and knew we had a great car and a awesome set-up for this race. It’s hard to believe that just a few weeks ago this car was parked and I was trying to get healed up,” added Jerrod.
The middle part of the season plagued the team with equipment woes. But, the team never gave up and rebuilt the car from the ground up and has done a great job rebuilding a lethal mount for Jerrod.
“I am just so blessed right now. This has just been amazing; I have to first give a ton of credit to my family for their continued support. I also have to thank my crew; they have done an amazing job with this #12 machine for me. And, without the help of my supporters like K&N Filters, Champion Oil, Midland Performance, and Axis Products, just to name a few, we wouldn’t be able to have the stuff we need to not just compete but to win like this.”
As mentioned, Hull also competed in the 305 portion of the night’s events in the Byron Sebastian owned #14S ride. Hull would lead early but would relegate back to the 2nd position with just a few laps remaining to finish in the runner-up spot.
“I have to thank Byron for supplying such a great 305 car for tonight. Man, that car is a rocket! I was just happy that I could finish so well for him down here at the Lake. They are a great group of people and it was a lot of fun working with them this weekend.”
Hull is still contemplating the next step for the team as they are looking to ride the recent success through to the end of the season at the Little Rock Short Track Nationals.
