The Bay Cities Racing Association Midgets and Vintage are at it again, heading to Northern California to take on the fast 3/8-mile paved oval of Shasta Raceway Park this Saturday.
With a guaranteed $1,000-to-win sponsored by TEAM F.A.S.T.(Fighting Against Steroids Together) and $250 to start Saturdays main event, it is promising to be some exciting Midget racing action. Chad Nichols won the first race at SRP this year and Nick Foster, Jr. won the second. Both will be contending for the win this weekend.
Nichols will be driving his own #17 Beast/Esslinger and Foster will be in Jim Fowler’s #1 Beast/Esslinger. They will be joined by Bill Lindsey in Bob Roza’s #28 Stewart/Esslinger, SRP promoter Rick Faeth in his own #3 Stealth/Chevy V4, Dillon Silverman in the R.A.M. Racing #12x Spike/RRE Chevy Ecotec, Pleasanton’s Pete Davis in Dave LaMott’s #0 TCR/Bob Wirth Honda, Washington’s Snake Livernash in his own #13 Beast/Esslinger, Mike Donaldson in Stu Donaldson’s #5b Ellis/Gaerte, Jimmy Screeton in a car from Washington, Glen Seidelman’s #4 Hawk/Gaerte, Lonny Alton in Lana Alton’s #5a Stealth/SCREAM Ford, Vacaville’s Rick Holbrook in R.A.M. Racing’s #14x Spike/RRE Chevy Ecotec and Devin LaHorgue in Rick Faeth’s #3x Stealth/Chevy V4. Other possible entries include J.R. Williams, Scott Pierovich, Tanner Swanson and Garrett Peterson.
The Pop Porter Memorial has always been a special event for Shasta Raceway Park and BCRA and therefore will be a double points event, with a “Dash for Cash” paying $100, $75, $50 and $25 to the four who qualify for it. There will also be a free barbeque at the Shata District Fairgrounds starting at 1 p.m. Saturday. All cars will be allowed to fire Friday for no charge. Saturday, gates open at Noon with practice beginning at 1 p.m., qualifying at 5:30 and racing beginning at 6:30.
