Rossburg, OH-September 22, 2010- Eldora Speedway plays host to the World of Outlaws this weekend as the 2010 season continues to wind down with the closest battle in series history taking place, as four drivers have a legitimate shot at claiming the title. Jason Meyers currently leads Joey Saldana by just three points, with Steve Kinser third, 48 markers back and Donny Schatz fourth, 115 out of the top spot.
Joey Saldana has won two of the four races for the World of Outlaws at Eldora this season to bring his career total to nine wins with the series at the half-mile. He has made the second most starts with the World of Outlaws at Eldora of the four title contenders and has racked up 47 Top-10 finishes dating back to 1994 with 29 of those being Top-Five performances.
Steve Kinser has amassed an amazing track record at Eldora dating back to 1978. He scored his first career World of Outlaws win at the track in the inaugural campaign and has won a total of 41 times with the series at the historic half-mile. The 20-time series champion has 122 career Top-10 finishes with the series at Eldora, which is more than Saldana, Schatz and Meyers combined. Kinser, who has 100 career Top-Five finishes at Eldora, has finished among the Top-Five in all four races at the track this season, including winning the Kings Royal for the record seventh time in his career.
Jason Meyers, the current point leader, has won twice in his career at Eldora with the most recent coming in 2007. The native of Clovis, California has 17 career Top-10 finishes with 10 of those being Top-Fives. He scored a Top-Five finish back in May in the series first visit of the year to Eldora. Of the four title contenders, Meyers has made the least number of starts at Eldora, making his debut at the track in 2000.
Schatz has won five times at Eldora in World of Outlaws events with the most recent coming in the 2009 Kings Royal. The four-time and defending series champion has racked up 45 Top-10 finishes at Eldora dating back to his debut at the track in 1996. He has 26 Top-Five finishes including three this season. He was running second in the series first visit of the year to the track when he suffered a flat tire. He has finished seventh or better in 19 of his last 20 starts at the tracked owned by his car owner Tony Stewart.
The opener of the Four Crown Weekend for the World of Outlaws on Friday, September 24 at Eldora Speedway will be the series final stop of the season at the famed high-banked half-mile.
