Merrill, WI–October 5, 2010 — Thirteen new presenters, nine new or recently-absent topics, 27 sessions, important Saturday presentations! That’s what promoters will find on the Reno Workshop schedule available on the Racing Promotion Monthly website. Reno will showcase new talent and experience differently than past “front-loaded” agendas the custom at the Workshops. Important speakers and sessions, formerly emphasized on opening day, will close the Workshop Saturday in Reno.
Saturday, December 4 will open with the remarks of Karl Fredrickson, publisher of the newly relaunched Speedway Illustrated Magazine, entitled: “Epilogue: Thoughts on Short Track Racing Today.” Fredrickson will talk with promoters about how promoters can make most of traditional and new media. Also, Saturday is “The Madhouse Round Table,” an examination of the new force emerging in short track racing–racing reality TV. One of few female promoters in the industry, Vicki Emig will offer take on race promotion in her Saturday session, “Promote With Passion. The day will include four additional sessions.
Twelve Friday Sessions will include the always-popular Workshops “Risk Management Q&A” panel discussion and “Engage and Monetize,” with Chicago digital media expert Mark Murrell. Murrell’s clients include national package goods brands and the National Speedway Directory. Also Friday, Doug Bland of Bland Sports and Bill Martens of GM Performance Parts will answer promoters sponsorship questions in the “Sponsorship Wrap Up,” a followup to Bland’s Thursday presentation. Friday will include six breakout sessions in our popular “Short Track Short Course.” These sessions will feature panelists and presenters talking with promoters in concurrent sessions including these: “The State of Sealed Spec Engines,” “Transponder Timing and Scoring,” two Workshops TechSpec breakout discussing rules and tech for both V8 and small-engine powered classes. and Chuck Deery’s “Workshops New Promoters’ Forum,” Open forum Q&A session with a panel of sophomore promoters.
IZOD Indy Car driver and promoter Davey Hamilton will open our nine-session Thursday. He’ll share his unique view of short track racing and how it fits with today’s multi-million dollar, sponsor-driven big-league motorsports. The day will also feature a much anticipated discussion by attorney Kendall Millard, of the law firm Barnes & Thornburg, a member of the legal team that defended Hoosier Tire in the Race Tires America v Hoosier Tire and Dirt Motorsports antitrust lawsuit. Also Thursday, Cary Agajanian who will give his customary and popular “Racing Legal Update,” race and martial arts event promoter, and mobile marketing entrepreneur Doug Bland’s will talk sponsorship in “21st Century Sponsorship.” Additional Thursday sessions include an instructive “Risk Management Issues,” and “Survival Strategies,” an idea session for tracks facing difficult circumstances brought in tough economic times.
