AKRON, Ohio (Oct. 11, 2010) – It’s all about the statistics for the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship contenders.
Three races remaining in the 2010 season, less than 100 laps of feature racing to go in the year. Four veteran drivers top the standings, separated by only 133 points.
And in the thick of it all is the standard bearer in championship racing: Goodyear tires.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire supplier for the rear wheel positions of the WoO Sprint Car racers and is the Official Tiremaker for the series. The Akron-based manufacturer has been the tire of record for more championship racers than any other tiremaker in the last 50 years.
The most recent WoO race, at Rolling Wheels, was decided among three of the top four title contenders.
Jason Meyers leads the standings with 8,887 points and ran third at Rolling Wheels. Steve Kinser won at Rolling Wheels and sits second with 8,789 points. Kinser is a 20-time WoO champion.
Donny Schatz is third in the season chase and finished second at Rolling Wheels. He also had the fastest time in time trials, a lap averaging 140.301 mph. Schatz’ points collection includes 8,781 parts.
Joey Saldana sits fifth in the championship struggle with 8,754 points.
