Marysville – The final event on Marysville Raceway Park’s 2010 calendar will be held this Saturday, November 27th. The annual MRP Racer’s Swap Meet will be offered from 8am until noon…or until everyone decides to head on home. The last event of the year is often the 1st event of the next season as drivers and owners swap and sell a bunch of goodies that often signal the start of projects that find their way onto the raceway on opening day.
Everything from a shock to a complete racing operation may be available. Sellers spaces are $35. Admission for buyers is free. The weather looks good for the event, as a 30% chance of late evening showers is the call as of this writing.
There’s a good deal of buzz ongoing about the new MRP Hobby Stock class that will be offered at MRP next season. This logical update of what was originally the bomber class will offer a low cost way to go racing locally. The number of MRP Super Stock cars and MRP Mini Stock cars that have committed to the season next year is impressive. Adding this 3rd stock car class will allow drivers opportunities to race at MRP that before now had been filled by traveling groups. Promoter Hawes will continue his policy of promotions featuring the talents of MRP’s own racing heroes. The MRP Hobby Stock rules are now posted to the website.
The MRP Winged Sprint Cars and the Performance Auto Supply Wingless Warrior Sprint Car Series will, of course, be featured in weekly competition as well. The Hunt Magneto Wingless Sprint Car Shootout will be back in 2011. Negotiations are continuing for additional racing events that may include a return of the 410 sprinters and BCRA full midgets. A complete schedule will be available after the Promoter’s Workshop in Reno during December. Expect a schedule after the 1st of the year.
In response to a number of inquiries to this observer, a clarification is in order on how points are scored at MRP. The change will be made in the posted “MRP Hobby Stock Rules” and elsewhere, in every class where necessary. Since opening day of 2010 points are awarded to cars competing in the main event only. This pertains to all MRP classes. No points are available in any preliminary event. The winner is awarded 50 points. 2nd place is awarded 47 points. Then, there is a 2-point drop per position (example: 3rd- 45 points, 4th- 43 points, 5th- 41 points…etc.). A driver must start the main event to earn points.
See you Saturday………..
