From J&J
McKENZIE, TN – A trio of J&J Auto Racing teams recently scored Sprint car victories in dirt track action in Australia. Jamie Veal won the recent Victorian 360 title race, while Ben Atkinson picked up his second triumph of the season at Tyrepower Sydney Speedway. Jamie Maiolo raced from 17th to win the King of Wings event at Perth Motorplex.
SPRINT CAR RACING ASSOCIATION OF VICTORIA
Jamie Veal raced to victory recently in the Victorian 360 Title race at Blue Ribbon Raceway. Veal took command at the drop of the green flag and raced away from the field aboard the Moyle powered SWI No. 35 J&J. Only a late caution slowed his pace, but even the final restart wasn’t enough to keep him from taking the win.
“I am very thrilled to take this win and to get a race meeting in,” admitted Veal. “We have had a few rainouts lately, but this makes up for the disappoint of those rainouts, the race track was a credit to the curators, you could driver anywhere on the track, which allowed for passing inside and outside comfortably. I must thank my team and crew for there efforts to help make this win possible and to my mother and father thanks for everything you do for me.”
KING OF WINGS
Jamie Maiolo was excited to say the least after winning last Saturday night’s 40-lap King of Wings Sprintcar final at the Perth Motorplex. The drive forward in the No. 99 J&J saw him get the lead at the end of the first 20-lap segment and then again at the end of the total 40 laps.
“This one is for the boys, mum and dad and the sponsors,” Maiolo said. “We had a bit of bad luck at those country shows, this makes it all worthwhile. It’s 40 laps and it’s only the last lap that counts, you have got to be good at the end. We came out on top and that’s the way we like it.”
TYREPOWER SYDNEY SPEEDWAY
Ben Atkinson became the first two-time winner of the young season at Tyrepower Sydney Speedway. Atkinson raced Gary Rush Racing’s No. 2 J&J from the 10th-starting position and put on an exciting show en route to the victory.
“Two wins from four starts – I couldn’t ask for a better start to the season,” said Atkinson. “Mind you I owe the team one after tearing up the car last weekend.”
Atkinson made a number of bold moves through traffic to work his way to the front and claim his second victory.
