Reidy 14th at Hobart

After finishing the opening two rounds of the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship in 11th place, Danny Reidy last Saturday night at Hobart’s Mountain Dew Ice Raceway broke that streak with a 14th place finish in the third round.

It was a tough night for Reidy and his team after they struggled to move forward all night on a track where passing was minimal due to a one lane and rubber down track.

“We qualified strongly in time trials with the fifth fastest lap and it ended up hurting us later in the night, as we were forced to start from the back of both our heat races and on a one lane track that doesn’t help you much,” Reidy explained. “In the heat races we didn’t move forward much [ninth and seventh place] and we ended up qualifying towards the back of the feature race which made the going tougher.”

After the NT # 5 Desert Palms Resort supported Eagle driver had started from position 13 in the field, he was shuffled back a few spots in the opening lap when some cars up ahead came together and in the end he played the follow the leader game to finish in 14th place.

“When the track lays down rubber, which it did towards the end of time trials, it’s just a matter of keeping focused and waiting for opportunities to come your way,” Reidy said. “It did become frustrating not being able to move forward, but there wasn’t really much you could do.”

As a result of last Saturday night’s 14th place finish, Reidy has dropped back to 11th in the WSS Championship point standings.

The WSS Championship remains in Tasmania this coming Saturday night (December 11) with the fourth round to be fought out at Latrobe’s Bendigo Bank Arena.

Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, Camden Neon Signs, P & M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Pipes and Inglis Race Engines for all their support throughout the 2010/11 season.
