Port Royal – Port Royal Speedway is full speed ahead for the 2011 season opener, slated for Saturday at 6 PM featuring 410 and 358 sprint cars.
PRS Promotions has added a practice session for stock cars to the night’s agenda, to be run after the regularly scheduled program of sprints.
Since the oval lost all three of its scheduled bug programs over the last two and a half weeks, it will open the surface for stock car practice laps at the end of the evening.
Those wishing to participate in the test and tune for any stock car can simply purchase a pit pass for the night and when the sprinters leave the speedway, they can take to the track.
A stout field of 410 sprints is expected to compete in the opener. Rick Lafferty is the defending event winner and is expected to be in the field.
Along with track regulars Justin Henderson, Mike Erdley, Chad Layton and Keith Kauffman, also planning to compete is Doug Esh, Daryn Pittman, Tyler Walker and Lance Dewease.
Pat Cannon will vie in the 358 division.
Pit gates for the open wheel doubleheader will swing open at 3 PM with general admission gates opening at 4. Racing is slated for 6 PM.
Adult general admission is $15.00 with students producing a student ID admitted for just $10.00
