Marysville –The Great Taxi Cab Open was postponed today as persistent rain and a forecast for more put the stoppers on this one. The event will be rescheduled for Saturday night October 15th. The Limited Late Models will return on that date along with an open competition for the ever-popular Super Stocks. As an extra-added attraction, Hobby Stocks will also take to the track that night.
The MRP point racing season will get underway on Saturday night April 2nd with a monster 5 division show. The awesome 360 Winged Sprint Cars, the Wingless 360 Sprint Cars, the aforementioned mighty Super Stocks, the MRP Mini Stocks and the Pro 4′ Sprinters will raise the curtain on MRP’s 43rd season. A review of that race will be up coming in these pages.
Also on April 2nd the IHOP Restaurant in Yuba City (Franklin at Hwy 99) will host the annual MRP Race Car Show. This gala event will kick off the professional auto racing spectacular scheduled to start at the track at 6:30 PM. The show will not pay championship points this year, but will be a golden opportunity to show off your car, put your sponsors in front of a very large group of folks and shake hands with the fans who make all of this possible. The racecar show will be staged from 11am to 3pm. Then the drivers and cars will head for MRP for opening night. Female MRP Mini Stock star Johnna Hensen is helping with the car show. There will be awards and a raffle during the show. Call Johnna at 530.330.0567 for more info or to donate raffle prizes.
IMPORTANT: 2011 minor releases must be signed by parents for all minors entering the pits. Concessions will be available. All classes of racecar are invited to participate.
