GREG ALEXANDER READY FOR DOUBLE DUTY THIS WEEK!

By Scott Daloisio

(Gardena, CA, March 28, 2011) The best kept secret in California Sprint Car racing, 22-year-old Greg Alexander of Gardena, may not be a well kept secret for long. The talented young driver, fresh off two impressive performances, will show case his talents in two different cars, in two different series’ at two different tracks within 48 hours of each other this week. On Thursday, Alexander will be at Hanford’s Giant Chevrolet King’s Speedway for the makeup of the March 18th rained out USAC West Coast 360 main event. Two nights later he will be at Perris Auto Speedway to race in the Amsoil USAC/CRA Series.

Alexander shocked the West Coast racing fraternity when he out qualified the 27 car field at the March 12 USAC/CRA season opener at Perris. Racing against some of the west’s best funded teams, Alexander was nearly one quarter of a second quicker than the second fastest qualifier on the night. He did not transfer out of his heat race, but came back to win the B-main on the chilly Southern California evening. After a light tangle with the wall in the 30-lap A-main, Alexander had to restart at the back of the field and came all the way back to finish 11th.

Six nights later in Hanford, Alexander won his heat race and looked set to make a good run in the main event before rain postponed the race until this Thursday, March 31st.

Two nights after Mother Nature intervened at Hanford, Alexander was back in action with the USAC West Coast 360 Series at the lightning fast Thunder Bowl Raceway in Tulare. That night Alexander sparkled once again. He was second in his heat race and placed third in the 30-lap main event behind Bud Kaeding and Ryan Bernal, despite racing the last 16 laps with a flat left front tire!

Setting his sights on the 2011 West Coast 360 Series championship, Alexander enters Thursday’s fray just seven-points behind Kaeding in the standings.

At Hanford, Alexander will be wheeling the Chuck Tyler Motorsports owned Maxim with Ed Hanson Racing Engine’s power. At Perris, he will be in John Belegante’s Beast Chassis with a Bellagante Engine.

The Tyler Motorsports entry is sponsored by Trench Shoring, Barnes Systems, Sander Engineering, Tyler Pool Service and Tyler Family Farms.

The Belegante #23 is sponsored by Barnes Systems, Persall Masonry, Scott’s Headers and Mufflers and Amsoil.
