ALEXANDER 4th IN USAC WESTERN 360 RACE AT TULARE!

By Scott Daloisio

(Gardena, CA, May 3, 2011) Greg Alexander picked up his second top five finish of the young 2011 season when he captured fourth place in the USAC Western 360 Series 30-lap main event last Saturday night at the Groppetti Automotive Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California. The finish was his second best of the year (he was third at the Thunderbowl on March 19th).

The newly turned 22-year-old from Gardena, California turned in a lap of 15:683 in qualifying. That was good enough for sixth fastest in the 21-car field.

Alexander started fifth in his heat race and finished fourth. That put him outside the fourth row for the start of the 30-lap main event on the 1/3 of a mile dirt oval. The young racer had the potent Chuck Tyler Motorsports #72 headed toward the front of the pack and was third by lap eight. Alexander remained in the third place spot until a tiny bobble on lap 27 saw him drop back to fourth. That is where he remained to the checkered flag.

The finish propelled Alexander back up to the fourth place spot in the championship point standings. Heading into the next race in the series, which will also be at the Thunderbowl on May 14th, Alexander is 18 points out of third and only 26 out of first.

On Sunday, Alexander spent the day in the Oil Twins Amsoil booth at the National Street Rod Association’s Western Regionals at the Kern County Fairgrounds in Bakersfield. He signed hundreds of autographs and met hundreds of fans while promoting his sport and his sponsors.

The Chuck Tyler owned #72 is sponsored by Trench Shoring, Barnes Systems, Sander Engineering, Amsoil, Tyler Pool Service and Tyler Family Farms.

In addition to his Chuck Tyler Motorsports ride in the USAC Western 360 Series, Alexander also drives the John Bellegante owned #23 in the Amsoil USAC/CRA Series. That car is sponsored by Barnes Systems, Amsoil, Persall Masonry, and Scott’s Headers and Mufflers.
