The 2011 AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Car series resumes Saturday night at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway and a battle royal is shaping up for the series title.
Mike Spencer’s three-year reign as champion is in jeopardy, with contenders Matt Mitchell and Nic Faas now breathing down his neck in the standings.
Spencer, of Temecula, Calif., has four wins this season, including three at Perris. He also has a third to his credit. Mitchell, of Yorba Linda, Calif., has a Perris win, plus two thirds and two fourths. Faas, of Huntington Beach, has two seconds, a third, a fourth and two fifths and is riding a five-race streak of “top-five finishes.”
Spencer’s lead stands at only 10 over Mitchell and 22 over Faas with 74 available Saturday.
