“Lightning” McQueen Claims Another Second Place Finish at Petaluma

By Robert Haugh
Bakersfield, CA – August 13, 2011

Showcasing consistency and patience, Bakersfield’s Shannon McQueen brought home her fifth consecutive second-place finish while further increasing her Bay Cities Racing Association Dirt points lead at the 3/8-mile Petaluma Speedway on Saturday, August 13.

Masterfully chauffeuring the McQueen Racing #7 Spike/Esslinger, McQueen swiftly piloted her way up from her inside second row staring spot, advancing to second by Lap 3 of the feature. McQueen passed Shane Golobic on lap 8 and led laps 8 through 13 before falling back to third. Battling a very heavy, tacky track, McQueen showed veteran poise coming home second behind three-time Petaluma BCRA winner Scott Pierovich.

McQueen darted from fifth to second in Heat 2, finishing just a car length behind pole sitter Nick Foster, Jr., clocking the fastest lap of the Heat in the process.

McQueen was fourth quick in qualifications, just under three one hundredths off of fast time, slowed by running up on a slower car in group qualifying on the rough track. McQueen was second quick in hot laps, just five one hundredths off the fastest time.

After 15 races, including one feature victory, six seconds, ten Top 5s and 14 Top 10s, McQueen continues leading the Bay Cities Racing Association Dirt points, leading two-time BCRA champion Nick Foster, Jr. by 106 points unofficially, with three Dirt races remaining.

Next up for McQueen Racing the BCRA race at the 1/4-mile Marysville Raceway Park in Marysville, CA on Saturday, August 27.
