TULSA, Okla. (August 15, 2011) – After a summer break of nearly two months, the ASCS Southern California Region returns to action by taking to the Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA, this Saturday night.
Saturday’s card atop the 3/8-mile Kings clay oval marks the first ASCS SoCal event since Tommy Tarlton picked off his third series win of the year on June 25.
With three wins in five tries, Tarlton holds a 112-point edge in ASCS SoCal points over Cory Eliason, with Steven Kent, Albert Pombo and Ronnie Day rounding out the current top five.
After Tarlton topped the initial two events of the year, Eliason cracked ASCS SoCal victory lane at Santa Maria in May before Bud Kaeding scored at Kings two weeks later.
Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway is located in Hanford, CA, south of SR 198 on 10th Avenue to the Fairgrounds. For more information, contact the track at 559-584-7223.
The inaugural slate of ASCS Southern California action includes nine nights of winged Sprint Car competition at three tracks including Kings Speedway, Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway and Santa Maria Speedway.
The 2011 season marks the 20th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, with approximately 200 nights of competition at tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of ten different Regions throughout the nation.
