The penultimate round of the 2k11 USAC Mopar .25 Generation Next Tour unfolds this weekend at “Little Kalamazoo,” the track located adjacent to Kalamazoo (Mich.) Motor Speedway. The event is in conjunction with USAC’s “tripleheader” racing program of Mopar D1 Midgets, Midwest Ford Focus and Focus Young Guns on the 3/8-mile paved oval.
Round 11 of the 12-round championship features battles for class championships, including two Michigan point leaders. Wil Raber of Allegan has a three-point aqdvantage in Heavy World Formula, while Carson Hocevar of Portage is six points up in Junior Stock.
“We’re excited to be competing on the newly-constructed high banked oval this weekend,” says USAC’s James Spink. “Scott Hocevar and his crew have done a remarkable job constructing USAC’s newest .25 club.”
Three pilots lead two separate class championships, namely Zeb Wise of Angola, Ind. (Junior Animal and Junior Honda), Bryant Dawson of Phoenix, Ariz. (Mod and Heavy AA) and Garrett Jones of West Palm Beach, Calif. (Light World Formula and Light 160). Other class leaders hail from Florida, North Carolina, New Mexico, New Jersey and Indiana.
