(Gardena, CA, August 26, 2011) Torrance, California’s Greg Alexander turned in a season’s best eighth place finish in the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series last Saturday night before a large crowd at Perris Auto Speedway. Tomorrow night, August 27th, he will return to action in the USAC West Coast 360 Series at Santa Maria Speedway in a Maxim chassis purchased from Southern California star Matt Mitchell.

The 22-year old racer started last Saturday off on a high note when he qualified 12th in the tough 31-car field. He backed up the qualifying effort with a third place finish in his ten lap heat race in John Belegante’s Barnes Systems, Amsoil, Persall Masonry and Scott’s Headers & Mufflers #23 sprint car.

The rising start in the under funded car started the 30-lap main event in the 12th spot (outside row six) and as usual, he moved forward in the race against the better funded teams. By the time the 30-lapper was done, he had clawed his way all the way up to eighth. His previous best finish with the Amsoil USAC/CRA Series in 2011 was an 10th at The PAS on April 2nd.

This Saturday Alexander will return to action in the former Mitchell car when the USAC West Coast 360 Series returns to Chris Kearns’ Santa Maria Speedway. The Chuck Tyler owned team has sat out the last two races, but they expect big things in the new car on Saturday. In his only other Santa Maria appearance in 2011, Alexander recorded a 10th place finish in the A main on April 9th.

The Chuck Tyler Motorsports car is sponsored by Trench Shoring, Barnes Systems, Sander Engineering, Amsoil, Tyler Pool Service, Tyler Family Farms and King Racing Products

Spectator gates at Santa Maria will open at 4:00 PM and the first race will be at 6:00. For more information, please visit the tracks web site at:
