Port Royal – Thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of contingency cash and prizes is stacking up to be given away at the September 9 Living Legends Dream Night Before The 50 twin 20s for sprint cars at Port Royal Speedway.
And on top of all the contingency money and prizes, the races themselves will both offer full purses aside from $3,333 to win in the first 20 and $4,610 to win in the second 20.
The first 20 is meant to honor Living Legend honoree Keith Kauffman, who sported a K33 as one of his earliest sprint cars while the second 20 will pay tribute to honoree Walt Dyer and his famed No. 461 sprint car fielded in the area for decades.
If one driver can manage to sweep both 20s, he or she will claim the $2,000 Lelands.com Tuscarora 50 Weekend Bonus In Memory Of Marion Ritzman, bringing total winnings on the night to nearly $10,000 for one driver.
If the bonus is not claimed, it will roll over to Saturday’s 44th annual Tuscarora 50 for either one of the pair of twin 20 winners. The Tuscarora 50 itself will pay $11,000 to win plus at least $25 to lead each lap.
Some $5,000 in cash alone is up for grabs in the Friday twins program including a pair of $1,000 Ed Swartz Memorial Hard Charger Awards, one to be given away in each main event to the driver who advances the most positions from his original starting position in the feature.
A fast time award worth over $1,000 is also waiting to be claimed thanks to sponsors: Tilton Hilton, Ken’s Coins and Jewelry, 21st Century Fireplace, Jack Gaughen Hower & Associates, Grid Iron Pub and Juniata Beverage along with numerous other individual benefactors.
Each of the four heat races on the night will pay $300 to win as posted by CH Burns Inc., RE Davidson & Sons, Buttonwood Campground and Terry & Shane Ritzman.
In addition, the feature aligning dash will pay $300 to win courtesy of the York County Racing Club In Memory Of Paul Miller.
Pasquariello’s Auto Shop has posted $270 to be given away as lap money for the races, distributed to the leaders of laps 5, 10 and 15 in each main. The laps will be worth $45 each.
The speedway will also award one provisional starter in the first feature of the night with the lucky recipient being the highest driver in Port Royal points who fails to qualify after taking a green flag in either time trials or the heat races.
On top of a full B Main purse that is posted, an additional $100 has been posted for the first non-qualifier in the B, whoever he or she may be, courtesy of BLT.
On the parts and products side of the equation, a set of Penske Shocks valued at over $1,000 will be awarded to one lucky time-trialer following qualifications.
Also, prizes including free tires from Goodyear, gift certificates from DMI and Wings Unlimited and more will be handed out to the second through fifth place finishers in each of the heat races.
Other prizes to be distributed include torsion and steering arms from Ti22 Performance, gift certificates from Moose Blocks, Rider Racing Engines, VRP Shocks and more!
In the event of a rainout of the twins Legends Dream Before The 50 program on Friday, all honors and contingency cash and prizes will roll over to Saturday’s Tuscarora 50.
