Ringgold, GA – (September 2, 2011) – Past United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear Mid South regional series Champion, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas blasted from his third place starting position into the lead exiting turn four on lap one and led the balance of the thirty-laps in the USCS Sprint Car Mania IV main event at Boyd’s Speedway on Friday night to capture his eighth USCS main event and www.RockAuto.com victory lane visit of the 2011 season.
Crawley passed K&N Filters Pole Position starter and 2009 USCS National Rookie of the Year, Justin Carver from Drummonds, Tennessee and 2010 USCS National Rookie of the Year, Morgan Turpen from Cordova, Tennessee on the initial lap, but, had to hold off a hard-charging, Brian Bell from Cordova, Tennessee who was the high points driver after winning the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. Bell drew a four in the K&N Filters Pole Award drawing and started the main event outside the second row next to Crawley.
Bell passed Turpen on lap one as well and Carver on lap two then chased Crawley the rest of the distance to finish in the runner-up spot. Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee who was the 2008 USCS National Rookie of the Year, started sixth and battle his way into the top five by lap five. He then passed Morgan Turpen on lap six for the fourth position. He moved past Carver on lap eight to place himself in the K&N Filters third position.
The race finished with Crawley in victory lane, Brian Bell in the runner-up position followed by Nicholson, Carver and the only female in the field eighteen year-old Morgan Turpen rounding out the top five finishers.
Defending series Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee led the next group in sixth place. Two-time 2011 USCS feature winner, Matt Linder from Hoschton, Georgia followed in seventh place. Current USCS Rookie of the Year point’s leader, Jordon Mallett from Greenbrier, Arkansas finished in eighth place. The evening’s Goodyear Speed Dash Winner, sixteen year-old Eric Riggins, Jr. from Charlotte, North Carolina followed in ninth place and Lee Sowell from Nesbit, Mississippi rounded out the top ten drivers.
The 2010 USCS Southern Thunder regional series Rookie of the Year, Eric Riggins, Jr., kicked off the evening’s USCS action with a win in the 6-lap Goodyear Speed Dash. Brian Bell grabbed the win in the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat Race. Tim Crawley got the victory in the Butlerbuilt Second Heat Race. Morgan Turpen won the FSR Racing Third Heat. Nick DeFeo from Marietta, Georgia started 22nd and passed the most cars in the main event to earn the Wilwood Engineering Hard Charger Award. Jordon Mallett garnered the Goodyear, Rookie of Race honors. Anthony Nicholson earned the JE Pistons Top guns Award for his third place finish in the main event.
