FORLER CLAIMS WIN NO. 3 AT GRAYS HARBOR

– ELMA, Wash. (Sept. 6) – It didn’t erase the previous two nights, but it sure helped.

Logan Forler overcame a rough couple of outings with the World of Outlaws at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., by capping the weekend with a victory at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash., on Sunday.

The 18-year-old from Lake Havasu City, Ariz., picked up his third win of the season – and second at Grays Harbor Raceway – by charging from seventh place to the lead and then outlasting veteran Jason Solwold in the final dozen laps.

“That was a pretty good race,” Forler said. “It’s pretty cool to say you outdrove Jason there.”

Forler drove from fourth place to win his heat race and he started the feature seventh. He advanced a row after the polesitter brought out a caution on the intial start. Forler then picked off the few cars in front of him to pass leader Colton Heath approximately halfway through the race. A short time later Heath caused a caution and Solwold advanced to second.

“I knew he was back there and I knew he was going to be tough to beat,” Forler said. “When you’re out front all by yourself you don’t really know what is the fastest line. I kind of held up off turn two on the restart so I could see his line. I was just waiting for him to show his line.”

Solwold passed Forler for the top spot a lap later before the duo swapped the lead two circuits after. He then moved up the track and held off Solwold down the stretch to record the victory.

It wrapped up a tough weekend that began with the two World of Outlaw races at Skagit Speedway.

On Friday, Forler qualified 23rd and finished ninth in his heat race, which forced him to run the B Main. After placing second to earn a transfer, Forler started the feature 22nd. He didn’t stay there long.

However, after climbing toward the top 15, Forler was involved in a vicious crash on the frontstretch on lap 12.

“I was right behind Lucas Wolfe and Skagit is so dusty,” he said. “Lucas shot to the bottom all of a sudden and Trey Starks was stopped there. I was wide open when I ran into him. It disintegrated the whole car. I was sore after that one.”

Forler finished 19th – his 38th top 20 in 41 features this season.

He wasn’t going to race on Saturday, but decided to pull down the spare car from the trailer and he popped in the spare engine.

It was a similar result for Forler, who qualified 20th, finished eighth in his heat race and was the runner-up in the B Main to transfer to the feature. However, coming off of turn four on the final lap of the B Main, Forler had an issue with the rear end.

The team scrambled to repair the car before the feature, but the alternate was sent to the track just as Forler’s crew was buttoning his car up. He wasn’t allowed to start the race.

Forler is unsure whether he is racing this weekend.
