Carrying Momentum into Michigan

From CDR

For the first time since 2005 the World of Outlaws returned to Hartford Motor Speedway where Craig Dollansky and the Big Game Treestands #7 team looked to keep the momentum going following a strong weekend that saw the team pick up two top-five finishes including their 9th victory of the season.

As the weekday event got underway in Hartford, Michigan, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ piloted the Karavan Trailers sponsored #7 to the 7th fastest time of the 22 total competitors. Starting from the outside pole of the first heat race, Dollansky raced Donny Schatz for the lead but finished 2nd to still earn a spot in the dash. An inversion of eight pitted the Eaton’s Aeroquip Performance Products Maxim in row two and finished 3rd in the quick 6-lap event.

With preliminary action in the books, Dollansky started inside of row two for the 25-lap A-Main but got a bad initial start and dropped back to fifth before the first caution on lap 5. On the restart Jason Meyers raced past the Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim for fifth as the feature went through a long stretch of green flag action until a stoppage with 8 laps to go. After advancing a position on the restart was negated before a lap was complete, Dollansky made his charge as he raced past Tim Shaffer on the ensuing restart and came after Meyers for third one lap later. Still running fourth with 6 laps to go, Dollansky zoned in on Schatz two laps later as the duo raced side-by-side for third. ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ would assume the spot with 3 laps to go and hold it until the checkered flags flew to record another strong podium finish and third straight top-five.

“The first part of the race we didn’t get going real good but the latter part was great,” commented the Elk River, Minnesota native. “To come home third after dropping back to sixth was a good run. My hat is off to Joey, it’s not fun to be at home trying to heal up, I know what that’s like. He did a good job tonight. He’s strong and a great driver so great job to that entire team. This is a great finish for Big Game Treestands, Aggressive Hydraulics, Karavan Trailers, Aeroquip, and everyone that supports this race team. When you’re running top three with these group of guys it’s not easily done.”

This weekend the Big Game Treestands #7 team make their final visit of the season to two legendary tracks beginning on Friday with the 4-Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway and the Commonwealth Clash at Lernerville Speedway the following night.
