– TUCSON, Ariz. (Oct. 4) – Lapped traffic is usually a strength for Logan Forler.
Last Saturday, it was anything but positive for the 18-year-old from Lake Havasu City, Ariz. In his return to Arizona, Forler struggled in lapped traffic in the closing laps after driving into the top three at the ASCS Southwest Region race at USA Raceway in Tucson.
“If it weren’t for lapped traffic, we would have won,” he said. “I’d get by a lapped car and the guy in front of me would be like a straightaway ahead. I’d catch him in two laps, then he’d get by the next lapped car easily and it’d take me awhile to pass that lapped car. That happened over and over.”
Forler finished third, which was his third top-10 finish in three races at the high-banked, 3/8-mile dirt oval this season.
“I’m just comfortable there,” he said. “It’s a big track and I’m usually better on big stuff.
“On Saturday, it was just one of those deals where I was in the wrong place at the wrong time all night.”
It was Forler’s seventh top-three finish in the last 15 races, when he has recorded three victories, seven top fives and 10 top 10s.
Forler is set to race for the first time at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif., on Friday with the Ocean Sprints. He’ll finish the weekend at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., with the ASCS Southern California Region.
