Port Royal – The April 28 All Star Circuit of Champions Bob Weikert Memorial for sprint cars at Port Royal Fairgrounds Speedway just got richer – for drivers and fans!

A week after announcing that the 2012 edition of the race will pay a cool $10,000 to win, Weikerts Livestock and its family of sponsors has just pumped $3,000 more dollars into the 30-lap affair by posting $100 to the leader of each circuit.

That means if one driver gets lucky enough to lead all 30 loops of the 2012 Weikert Memorial he will pocket a whopping $13,000 for his night of work.

In addition to the overall purse, Crankwerks of Newville has announced that it will be paying $100 to the highest driver in Port Royal points who fails to qualify for the event.

And then the fans will get a chance to win too on Weikert Memorial night as Weikerts Livestock gives away bicycles to kids and packages of Weikert’s famous meat products to adults.

Up for grabs by general admission fans will be 10 five-pound boxes of hamburger patties and 10 ten-pound boxes of hot dogs. Five boys and five girls bicycles will also be given away during the night.

Weikert’s No. 29 sprint car was synonymous with sprint car racing around the world and was quite prominent in history at Port Royal Speedway from the late 1960s through the 1990s.

Greg Hodnett of Thomasville is the defending Weikert Memorial winner.
