Another night of action at Eldora Speedway greeted Craig Dollansky and the Big Game Treestands #7 team as they returned to the ultra-fast ½-mile on Saturday for the conclusion of Goodyear Outlaw Thunder weekend.
With 36 cars ready to battle, the track record holder at Eldora powered the Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim to the 12th fastest time in qualifying to earn a front row starting spot in the heats. Starting from the outside pole of heat #4, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ capitalized on a late restart to steal 2nd and transfer into the evening’s dash. An inversion of six again put the #7 outside the front row but Dollansky battled a car that was struggling to take off and lost a few positions in the process finishing 5th.
After performing the ‘missing man’ formation during the four-abreast to observe Pennsylvania sprint car owner Jesse Keen who passed away the previous day, the Eaton’s Aeroquip Performance Products backed sprinter started inside row three for the 30-lap A-Main. Running sixth after the first circuit, the Elk River, Minnesota native battled for a spot in the top-five but continued to hold the position until the first caution came on lap 24. As action resumed Dollansky raced around David Gravel with three circuits to go and held fifth before a caution the next go-around. The green-white-checkered restart saw the MobileStar #7 shoot out of a cannon charging up to 3rd and crossing the checkered flag with a strong podium finish.
“Friday we were dealing with trying to get our motor to take off and then Saturday night after the dash we changed some things up and actually got it to take off better in the feature,” commented Dollansky. “Unfortunately in the dash we had a good draw and it cost us a few positions not taking off on the start. We learned some things and like Friday we had a car that was pretty tight early but we had a pretty decent car late.”
World of Outlaws action resumes this Wednesday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, PA.
