Jerry Coons Jr. nearly won Saturday’s “Hut Hundred” at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind., but mechanical woes beset his car two laps from the finish. That allowed Brady Bacon of Broken Arrow, Okla. to post his first-ever victory in the event.

Ryan Bernal led the first 16 laps from his front-row starting spot. Pole starter Coons then took over and appeared headed for victory for the next 82 circuits.

Chris Windom finished second behind’s Bacon’s Wilke-Pak Racing – Speedway Motors #11w Spike/Stanton Toyota. Levi Jones, Bryan Clauson and Bernal rounded out the “top-five.”

Darren Hagen finished seventh and has a commanding 50-point series lead over Bobby East going into races at Gas City and Putnamville, Ind. June 13 and 14.
