Sometimes in racing, overcoming adversity is the key to the weekend. That was the case last weekend for Paige Polyak and her race team. It started off Friday at Attica Raceway Park where an excellent late race pass on leader DJ Foos, sealed the heat race win for Paige, after charging up from 5th. With it being a special race for the 305s, a dash format was used to line-up the A Main. A 3rd place finish in the 1st Dash earned Paige a 5th place starting spot in the 30 lap A Main. After hanging around the top 5 from the drop of the green flag, Paige slipped back to 7th as the temp gauge in the car started to rise. On lap 18, the overflow hose blew off the car, spraying water all over as she slipped over the top of turn 1. With the car totally engulfed in steam, the rescue crew came to Paige’s aid, as her night was over. After running many test on the engine to figure out the overheating issue, all was good and it was off to Fremont Speedway Saturday for another night of racing. With a bad vibration during hot laps, Paige pulled the car pit side, thinking her night was going to be over. Not giving up, the crew started checking the car out and found that a rocker arm nut backed-off and the rocket arm fell off. An easy fix but a time consuming one, the car was bolted backed back together just as Paige’s heat was called to the staging area. All the rushing to make the heat race paid off as a 4th place finish earned a transfer to the A Main. Starting outside row 1 in the 25 lap A Main, Paige dropped back to 4th by mid-race and was searching for the fast groove on the track. Paige adjusted her line as she charged backed up to battle with the leaders. Gaining on the leaders lap after lap, Paige made a daring move off turn 2, making it 3 wide, moving from 4th to 2nd entering turn 3 on the final lap. Off 4, Paige keeps her momentum, crossing the line with a 2nd place finish. Adversity was overcame and the weekend ended on a high note.
