With a nickname like “The Hurricane,” you would expect Randy Hannagan to blow into town and literally take Knoxville, Iowa by storm. This year as he travels to the hallowed grounds of sprint car racing, he is blowing into town with a new approach. As Hannagan embarks on the two biggest racing weekends of the year, he will be using this new approach to roll with whatever is thrown at him – rain, hail, tornadoes, or sunny skies.
Yoakam and Hannagan come together for 360 Nationals
First up for “The Hurricane” will be qualifying for 22nd Annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals on Thursday, August 2. He will be teaming up with Yoakam Motorsports of Lima, Ohio to drive the No. 22H, which he has been successful in at both Limaland Motorsports Park and Eldora Speedway this season. In 2012, this partnership has brought 12 wins so far, and the duo also leads the NRA and Limaland Motorsports point standings.
“Now that I have my family issues behind me, it has driven me to take a new approach to both my racing and life in general,” stated Hannagan. “I believe this new outlook on life has brought me the success I have seen this year in the 360. We have had two good runs here in the 360 the last two years, so I would like to get my tenth win of the season this weekend at 360 Nationals. It would mean the world to me to end up in victory lane Saturday night after all the family hardships and illnesses we have endured the past few years.”
Hannagan and Yoakam Motorsports would like to thank the following sponsors for making their run at the 360 Knoxville Nationals possible: Starke County Co-Op. Medallion Refinish Systems, BMRS, FK Rod Ends, Kenny’s Components, Gorby’s Howard Johnson of Lima, Integra Racing Shocks and Weld Racing.
410 Nationals – Doing it his own way
The following weekend Hannagan will be taking on the 52nd Annual Goodyear Knoxville Nationals. Qualifying on Wednesday, August 8, this will be the 17th year that Hannagan has been a part of the historic event. The 1995 Nationals Rookie-of-the-Year is looking to improve his familiar No. 1X program though out the weekend.
“This year my 410 racing program has been a work in progress,” Hannagan explained. “I haven’t had the opportunity to run many 410 races this year, so to have a good run with the (No.) 1X car in the 410 Nationals would beat any expectations that I have. We are going in with a mindset that we will take the journey that Knoxville sends us on, whatever it may bring.”
Hannagan would like to thank the following sponsors for making his run at Knoxville 410 Nationals possible: Central Valley Meat, BMRS, Kenny’s Components, FK Rod Ends, Gorby’s Howard Johnson of Lima, Simpson Race Products, Integra Racing Shocks, Outerwears, Ultra Shield, Auto Meter, Santomauro Race Products and Sander Engineering.
