(Perris, CA, August 16, 2012) Perris Auto Speedway Senior Sprint Car stars Bruce Douglass and Bill Badger will square off on the famous Riverside County clay oval on Saturday night to break the deadlock for the series point lead. Joining the Senior Sprints on the triple header-racing program will be the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and the California Lightning Sprints. Spectator gates will open 5:00 PM and the first race will be at 7:00.
Ventura’s Douglass, who will turn 61-years-old on Monday, and Santa Clarita’s Badger, 62, are stalemated on 327 points. Each will contest an eight-lap heat race and the 20-lap main event on Saturday. Thus far in 2012 Douglass has won three of the six Senior Sprint main events. Badger, who won the track’s first Senior Championship in 2011, has yet to win a main event at the track, but his consistent driving always sees him near the front of the pack when the checkers fall.
While Douglass and Badger are tied at the top of the heap, they had better not look over their shoulders. Forty-eight year old Victor Davis of Simi Valley is a mere 12-points behind the leaders and four-time VRA Senior Champ Wiley Miller, a 58-year-old from Yorba Linda, is only 21-points off the top spot.
At the last race on July 28th, Douglass, Badger and Miller all took turns leading the main event. Davis fought teammate Douglass hard over the final seven circuits before settling for second.
The Senior’s have made a lot of fans at The PAS in their two seasons including promoter Don Kazarian. “The Senior Sprints have been a spectacular addition to our program with the USAC/CRA and the California Lightning Sprint Cars,” he said with a grin. “They put on a crowd pleasing show every time out and the fans love them. At the last race the action was tight and the lead changed hands several times. The race was not decided until the final corner. You cannot ask for anymore more than that.”
John Aden’s “777 Chassis Company” is the official chassis of the PAS Senior Sprint Car Series. At the last race of the season, drivers who have made all of the 2012 series races or only missed one will be entered into a drawing for a free 777 Chassis. After the July 28th race, Douglass, Davis, Miller, Badger, “Hubcap Mike” Collins, Ed Schwarz, Eric Rickard and Brian Williams are still eligible for the drawing.
The PAS Senior Sprint Car Series is open to drivers 45-years old and older. The only other major rule is the cars have to be cast iron block 360 engines. There are no tire, weight or gasket rules. It is old school style “run whatcha’ brung’ racing.” If you would like to compete please call: (951) 940-0134.
The entire 2012 PAS schedule is listed at the end of this release.
