September 12, 2012 – Brady Bacon brought home a big win at the Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas with USAC Saturday night in the Hoffman Racing #69. The track affectionately known as “the Ditch” lived up to its moniker for fast and heavy racing! Unfortunately, the Broken Arrow, Oklahoma driver was sitting pretty for the feature Friday night at I-30 Speedway near Little Rock, Arkansas before rains came. The team will be back with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Series at the dirt track at Texas Motor Speedway this Saturday.
Brady registered quick time of the night Saturday. Starting sixth in his heat he gained two spots to lock himself into the main event. “The track just kept getting heavier,” he says. “It was a little hard to pass in the heats, but we were able to get up to fourth and get in. It was hard to pass, and some guys didn’t make it.”
Lining up sixth in the event, Brady was patient early on to get a feel for the track. “It was forty laps, so I wanted to let things play out,” he says. “The first few laps there were a lot of red flags and yellow flags. I took it easy for awhile.”
Brady made his most of his progress between lap ten and the halfway point. “I passed (Bryan) Clauson on a restart and got to fourth,” he says. “I was working on Zach Pringle…trying to pass him on the bottom. Anthony Nicholson actually got by me on the outside. That’s when the top started coming in…actually above the cushion.”
Nicholson showed him the right groove. “I headed up there and we were able to get by Pringle, then (Dave) Darland and back by Nicholson before we got to (Hunter) Schuerenberg,” says Brady. “I worked on Hunter for several laps, and I think I was able to get by him about the halfway point.”
From there, Brady took off. “We got a pretty good lead going,” he says. “Lapped traffic was a little sketchy. Where I was running up high, you would get to biking, and there were a couple times I had to lift when I didn’t want to. We were getting through.”
At that point, Clauson moved into second. “Clauson showed me the nose in the middle of three and four, and I think he was running the top in the end,” says Brady. “I was struggling with a lapped car with about five to go. I was finally able to get by the car and hold him off.”
The win was big for Brady, and he is thankful for the opportunity in the Hoffman #69. “The Hoffman’s put their trust in my hands and let me do what I wanted,” he says. “It meant a lot for them to trust me like that. It was a XXX car that we had also run at Ocala, and I brought my own shocks. They’re familiar with their normal package and car, and they felt like it would be best to give me the reigns. They knew where to start out at, and they did a good job putting the car together.”
Brady did get time trials and his heat in at the I-30 Speedway Friday. “I qualified fifth,” he says. “Not quite as good as I wanted. It’s tough sometimes to get back in that qualifying mode. We were able to start fifth in the heat and drive up to second. It was a pretty good run, but then it rained.”

Since the inception of Wesmar Racing Engines in 1986, they have grown from a small business with 4 employees, to the present “One of the Top Names” in the sprint car engine building industry with 9 employees. What makes Wesmar one of the top names in sprint car racing? The answers are simple:
· Wesmar is not an assembly line engine shop! Each motor is custom built around the driver and his particular wants and needs. After all, wouldn’t you feel comfortable knowing YOUR motor is designed for YOU rather than having one “pulled off the shelf?”
· Wesmar is constantly updating their motors to keep up with the ever-changing technology, that in turn benefits you, the racer.
