With the season winding down at a rapid pace, Lance Dewease is still hungry for wins, and that was evident over the weekend as he pocketed a third place finish at the Williams Grove Speedway, and a seventh place finish at the Port Royal Speedway during the make up for the rained out Labor Day Classic.
Kicking action off in heat races, Dewease muscled his way up to a third place finish from his fifth place starting spot aboard his Conduit Connections/Wings Unlimited/Hanks’s Performance Products entry.
Lining up for the feature in the seventh spot, the reigning track champion slowly worked his way towards the leaders as he battled the likes of Chad Layton, Darryn Pittman, and Gregg Hodnett.
At the halfway point, Dewease had worked his way up inside the top five, as he took over the fourth spot on the 17th lap. With three laps to go, second running Paul McMahan lost a left rear tire, and Dewease benefited as he over took the third spot.
Over the final three laps, Pittman checked out, and Dewease couldn’t track down Hodnett and he settled for third. The finish put Dewease fourth in the season’s final standings and the infamous half-mile facility.
Saturday night Dewease and his team opted to head to the Port Royal Speedway for a make-up race from the rain delayed Labor Day Classic.
The night got off to a great start for Dewease as he timed in with the quickest lap during time trials.
Getting through heat race action, Dewase transferred to the feature event, and was a non-factor.
Starting in the middle of the pack, Dewease struggled at times, as he closed the Port Royal season out with a seventh place finish.
“The season is quickly coming to a close, so we are playing with some things to hopefully give us a jump start on 2013,” Dewease said. “We were really fast and strong on Friday, and Saturday we just missed it in the feature, and ended up seventh.”
Dewease would like to thank Conduit Connections, Wings Unlimited, Hank’s Performance Products, Schaeffer Racing Oils, Penske Racing Shocks, FK Rodends, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, DMI Racing Components, Astro Titanium, Morrison Racing Engines, Tom Shockey Collision, Kirkey Seats, FW Graphics, WRT Web Designs, WRT SpeedWerx, ViperVenom Fuels, and Schoenfeld Headers for their continued support.
ON TAP: Dewease will be in action Saturday night again at the Williams Grove Speedway for the Fall Fest. The event will be feature events only.
