Since returning home to his native Sydney, Australia following the American season, Ian Madsen has had some serious speed as he and his Watson’s Express Transport/Australia Wide Towing/Lucas Oil Products team have had some serious speed as they currently lead the Sydney Speedway points.
“I’ve been very pleased with how we have started the year out,” Madsen said. “We have been fast, and I’m hoping we can keep this up all year.”
The highlight of the young season came on November 24th, when he parked his EJF Engineering/Mike Hughes & Partners/City Access Scaffolding machine in victory lane on an ultra slick surface after starting in the sixth spot.
“It’s always fun being in the mix and towards the front of the field,” he continued. “In our first few races we have been right at the front, and to get a win so early in the year was huge.”
In his most recent night of action, December 1st, Madsen had the makings of another stout night at Sydney Speedway as he started the night off by timing in third fastest., however as fate would have it, his night pretty much ended at that point.
While competing in heat race action, Madsen and his Blackshaw’s Motor Body Repairs/Factory Kahne Shocks/ButlerBuilt entry experienced mechanical issues and his night was over very early on.
“We were fast early, and I thought we would have another strong night, but unfortunately we had some unforeseen issues arise and we were in the trailer very early.”
Though he will be at the Brisbane Speedway this weekend, Madsen his pumped up for the upcoming speedweek that starts on December 26th.
“We have had some awesome speed at Sydney this year and I’m looking forward to competing there 6 times in 11 nights.”
Madsen would like to thank Watson’s Express Transport, Australia Wide Towing, Lucas Oil, EJF Engineering, Mike Hughes & Partners, City Access Scaffolding, Blackshaw’s Motor Body Repairs, ButlerBuilt, and Factory Kahne Shocks for their continued support.
ON TAP: Ian will return to action on December 15th as he takes to the Archerfield Speedway in Brisbane before taking back to Sydney Speedway on the 26th.
