New Richmond, WI — (January 2, 2012) — “The Indoor Nationals” marks the return of midget auto racing to the Cedar Lake Speedway Arena for the first time in nearly five years! Officials of the facility announced that the Stark Automotive Group/Mid-State Equipment Badger Midget Series will run a two-day event at the indoor quarter-mile dirt oval on March 9-10. Also competing in the event will be Legends Cars, and Slingshots.
In mid-February, track officials will replace the motocross track with a quarter-mile clay oval, same size as when Badger ran in March 2008, with Brandon Waelti, and Dave Darland winning the feature events. Drivers will be looking to break David Gough’s one-lap record of 11.818 seconds.
The event will be the season opener for the Badger, the country’s oldest midget auto racing organization, and will feature two complete shows. An optional practice night is scheduled for Friday night, March 8. Saturday Night March 9 racing will kickoff at 6 p.m., with Sunday afternoon’s racing events starting at 1 p.m. Saturday’s event will pay $2,000 to win, with Sunday’s winning capturing $2,500, with a $1,000 bonus to any driver winning both features.
The first twenty midget entries will be guaranteed an indoor heated pit stall.  For more entry or tickets information, visit www.cedarlakespeedway.com or call (612) 363-0479.
