Current Sydney Speedway points leader, Ian Madsen, had a rough go at the track on Saturday night as some broken body parts on his car, forced him to retired very early in the feature event.
“We’ve had a couple interesting weekends lately, and hopefully we’ve got some of the bad luck behind us,” Madsen said.
With no qualifying at the track, drivers drew for their heat race positions, and Ian’s draw put the Watson’s Express Transport/Australia Wide Towing/Lucas Oil Products machine 10th in his first heat, and third in his second heat, both resulting in third place finishes.
Heat’s were ultimately the most Madsen would run on the night as he had some early trouble in the feature event.
“Our car was awesome is both heat races, and we had a good starting spot in the feature, it was shaping up to be a good one,” he said.
On the second lap of the feature, Madsen’s nose piece on the front of the car collapses, causing the hood to come loose. When the hood came loose, it blew up and took away Madsen’s visibility, forcing him to retire from the event, after a valiant attempt to make a couple laps.
“It was bizzare, but what can you do?,” he said. “Like I said before, it’s been a rough couple of weeks, and hopefully it’s behind us.
