Nice Opener For Dewease

Debuting with Heffner Racing over the weekend, Lance Dewease turned in a pair of top-10 finishes, including a Friday night Hard Charger award.

“I think it was a pretty good first weekend together,” Dewease said. “We moved forward, in the features, and I think we will be pretty good in the coming races.”

The Fayetteville, PA driver opened his season up by timing in 18th quickest, and putting his Lelands.com/Conduit Connections/Pasquirellos Auto Shop on the front row of the second heat, which he would win convincingly.

Starting his first feature of the year in the ninth row, Dewease worked the high side of the speedway to near perfection as he worked his way forward from his deep starting spot.

Taking advantage of some timely cautions, Dewease used a pair of restarts to propel his Penske Racing Shocks/Wings Unlimited/Brown and Miller backed entry to score a ninth place finish, and earn the night’s Hard Charger honors.

“We had an awesome car on Friday night, and rebounded well from a lackluster qualifying effort,” he said. “My guys did a great job, and I think them for their effort.”

Saturday night they Heffner Racing team was back in action for another night of All Star Circuit of Champions competition.

Qualifying much better, Dewease laid down the eight fastest lap of the night, and put his Keizer Wheels/DMI Racing Components/Schoenfeld Headers No.27 in the third row of heat race four.

Running in the fifth spot with just one lap remaining, Dewease made an attempt to slide Cap Henry for the fourth and final transfer, however contact with the wall ensued, and he was forced to the pit area, and into the B main event.

Starting on the front row of the B, Dewease fell into the second spot on the extremely slick track, where he would finish and transfer to the feature as he gridded the field in the 12th spot.

With the track taking rubber very early, Dewease was able to capitalize on a few mistakes in front of him, and earn a 10th place finish.

“We had a little miscue in our heat, but other than night, we had another strong car,” he said. “We timed in much better, so hopefully we can build on this weekend, and make some noise in Volusia.”

Dewease and his Heffner Racing team would like to thank Lelands.com, Conduit Connections, Pasquirellos Auto Shop, Penske Racing Shocks, Wings Unlimited, Brown and Miller Racings Solutions, Keizer Wheels, DMI Racing Components, Schoenfeld Headers, Hanks Performance Products, FK Rod Ends, Viper Venom fuels, ATL Fuel Cells, Schaeffer Racing Oils, Astro Titanium, Tom Shockey Collision, Kirkey Racing Seats, Michael Graphics, Valley Forge Inc., Bell Helmets, WRT Web Designs, and WRT SpeedWerx for their support.
