A punctured tyre in the latter stages of the feature race ruined Danny Reidy’s chances of a strong result in last Saturday night’s latest round of the Sydney Speedway Sprintcar Track Championship.
In what was his second appearance of the season at the New South Wales track, Reidy was running strongly in podium contention, but contact in turn three with another competitor on the 19th lap left Reidy with a punctured left–rear tyre.
“I was running strongly and felt that I had a good enough car to challenge for the win, but it just wasn’t to be,” said the disappointed NT # 5 Desert Palms Resort – Alice Springs supported J&J driver. “The contact with the other competitor was just one of those racing deals – we were racing hard for position.”
Earlier in the night, Reidy had finished his two heat races in second and fifth respectively. Those two results qualified him eighth highest on points heading into the feature race. For the 30-lap feature race, he drew a position–four start.
This Saturday night (February 16), Reidy will return to Archerfield Speedway in Brisbane, Queensland, to contest the ninth round of the KRE Sprintcar Series. Currently, he sits inside the top three of the point standings of the KRE Series. The remainder of the season will see him based at his home track, Archerfield Speedway, in an attempt to win the overall KRE Series point standings.
Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, Camden Neon Signs, P&M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Pipes and Inglis Race Engines for all of their 2012-13 season support.
