The STP World of Outlaws portion of the UNOH DIRTcar Nationals rolled on Saturday for the Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 team as they returned to Volusia Speedway Park aiming to build on a sixth place from the previous night.
As the racing program got underway Dollansky got a good feel for the race track in hotlaps by posting one of the fastest laps among the 39 drivers signed into the pit area. ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ then backed up the strong lap in qualifying by posting the fastest time of the evening, rocketing around the big half-mile in 13.142 seconds to record his first quick time of the 2013 campaign.
Heat race action saw the Aggressive Hydraulics backed sprinter take the green from outside row two where Dollansky used a great start to take 2nd by turn 1 and race to the checkered flag in the runner-up position securing a spot in the dash. Unfortunately luck of the draw was not in Dollansky’s favor for the dash inversion as the eight pill put the MobileStar #7 outside row four. Making the most of the tough inversion, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ again had a great initial start moving up three spots to finish in 5th in the 6-lap event.
In the 30-lap A-Main the Eyecon Trail Cameras Maxim took the green from inside row three and struggled on the start dropping back a few spots on the opening lap. As the main event continued, Dollansky began making his way back to the front as the top seven tightened up working through heavy lapped traffic until a caution just before the halfway point on lap 14. With much of the field running the highside all the way around the half-mile and the racing surface just a little too narrow to execute any slidejobs, Dollansky closed on Jason Sides in the waning circuits but took the checkered flag in 7th.
The 42nd Annual UNOH DIRTcar Nationals concludes on Sunday with the third and final night of racing action.
