Bloomington, IN — (March 4, 2013) — Celebrating its 90th year, Bloomington Speedway has unveiled a busy racing schedule for 2013. The southern-Indiana dirt oval presents traditional sprint car racing over 17 Friday nights, with popular touring series, including USAC, MSCS and POWRi appearing throughout the schedule.

The curtain rises on the new season, Friday, April 19, and fans know that this is always a big night. Everyone has their cars cleaned and polished, nothing is wrinkled, new sponsors are clearly painted, and after being away from the track for several months, drivers are anxious for the first green flag.

May will see two big sprint car events, with the King of Indiana Sprint Series (KISS) on the 3rd, and the Larry Rice Classic, featuring USAC’s AMSOIL national sprint cars two weeks later, Friday, May 17.  Indiana Midget Week returns the USAC MOPAR midget series to the quarter-mile bullring on June 14, paired with Bloomington’s  Winner Circle Designs sprint cars.  The Independence Day Fireworks race will be bigger and better than ever on June 28, with a great aerial fireworks extravaganza, and a thrilling doubleheader showcasing both the POWRi midget series and the WCD sprint cars.

The Midwest Sprint Car Series (MSCS) headlines the racing program for the 26th Annual Sheldon Kinser Memorial, kicking off July’s action on Friday the 5th.  The MSCS feature pays $5,000 to win and $250 to start.  Then, Bloomington Speedway is the sixth stop of Indiana Sprint Week two weeks later, with the USAC sprint series making a second appearance on July 19.

Four racing divisions, the Winner Circle Designs Sprint Cars, Don Bush Family Moving UMP Modifieds, UMP Super Stocks and Chad’s LLC Hornets, will compete for points throughout Bloomington’s season.  Two big dates for these series are the “Summer Doubler” on August 16 and the September 6th “Fall Clash” Season Finale.  The Doubler will not only award double points, but will pay $3,000 to win the WCD sprint car feature, with increased payoff also possible for both the modifieds and the super stock feature winners.  As the season concludes with the final points night, the Fall Clash pays $4,000 to win the sprint car feature and $225 to start, and the same payoff for modifieds and super stocks as the Doubler.

For regular shows throughout the season, the WCD  sprint cars will compete for a purse paying $1,400 to win and share the schedule with the Don Bush Family Moving UMP Modifieds, UMP Super Stocks and Chad’s Hornets.  The UMP modifieds will race for $600 to win the feature, but if the car count reaches 28 or more, the payoff increases with $800 to win.  Similarly, the UMP super stocks will race for $500 to win the feature, with an increase to $750 to win if 28 or more super stocks compete.  Chad’s Hornets will pay the feature winner $100.

Widely known as being family-friendly, the gate admission for many events is just $12 for adults, with children 12 and under admitted free with a paying adult.  The attached schedule provides details of all racing programs, ticket prices for each night, and the times for most events.   Within the next couple days, the track’s revised website will launch at www.bloomingtonspeedway.com.  All of this information and much more will be available there.  The track may also be contacted at 812-824-7400.
